I love Mint, too. Seeing a pie chart of my spending is always sobering. Once I see the "Shopping" slice nearing the half-a-pie size, I get myself right back in line.

I'm pretty visual so I really like mint.com, since they've got neat little graphs that you can look at a variety of ways. Plus they have apps so I can check my stuff on the go without logging into my bank account. I made a goal on there since I'm trying to save for a house down payment and it's helped me keep track of how I'm doing on that.

I'm usually saving for traveling, and a little trick I've found is to print a little card-sized photo of my dream travel destination and tape it to my credit card. This way I'm forced to think twice before spending.

Also, I find having a monthly budget immensely helpful. It takes a little planning, but it saves me from A LOT of worry!

Not to be a broken record, but giving yourself a cash allowance might be helpful--it works wonders for me. I leave just enough in my checking account to pay for bills, rent, etc. Everything else, I buy in cash. Then when it's gone, it's gone. All the rest is tucked safely away!
