My husband and I met on Ok Cupid. Going the online route can definitely be frustrating but, at least for me, no more so than meeting through other means (it's just that I came in contact with more guys, so the numbers of flaky ones appeared to be higher).

We actually just celebrated our 2nd first-date-iversary last night!

I was interning for an NGO in Mali, living in a small village. And one day at the mayor's house, I met this woman who spoke fluent English. Needless to say, I was quite impressed. She invited me to come visit her in the city one day and when I went, I met her cousin who is now my fiance!

I met my husband at a party - we were celebrating a mutual friend's birthday and were standing outside smoking the whole night because we were dragged in to dance to Bollywood music if we were caught smokeless. Needless to say we had a great time and our "friendship" went to "relationship".

I live very very far away from him now though... he's still in NZ, I'm in Dubai.

I met my boyfriend at a burlesque show but after buying me drinks and being charming all night he didn't ask for my number, so a few days later I found him on a social networking site by way of one of the dancers at the show and was like "you should have asked for my number."

Its a fun story, but it was a bit awkward when his mom asked how we met.

Myspace. The Fiance was on myspace and apparently my profile came up and he messaged me. His message was polite and nice and just plain friendly. We talked online for a while, met up and the rest, as they say, is history. We've been engaged a year and a half now and been together a total of 5 years. I know it sounds sketchy as hell that we met on myspace, but such is life. The point is that we met.

I met my husband through Yelp, when it was first fairly active in our town. It was awesome, because it wasn't a dating site, but there were lots of food-and-drink focused social activities. When the point is "check out awesome businesses in your city" it's pretty easy to meet people. We didn't actually start dating until after I moved from San Diego back home to the bay area--we realized how compatible we were once we missed each other. So we got married (2009)and I moved back down. We are one of several couples to come out of what was basically an 8-month period of active participation in the Yelp world. We're attending the wedding of another couple this summer!

Prior to my husband I met dudes through friends mostly, but also through MySpace once (we had lots of mutual friends though), Livejournal, band practice (my ex and I practiced at the same studio), and coffee shops.

I spent the night with a boy, who left for work the next day and forgot that you you need a key to get OUT of the apartment (not uncommon in older Sydney buildings). I didn't actually live in Sydney at the time and had no idea where I was, other than "locked in a fourth floor apartment". I was debating whether to call the fire brigade to come liberate me via the window when a door at the end of the hallway opened and aforementioned boy's housemate popped his head out and offered his assistance. Bless him. We've been together four years now.

I met my husband through Meetup a few years ago. It was through the weekly dinner group, but we were also part of a bunch of different groups too. It's been a long time since I was at a meetup, but great way to meet new people

We totally got set my by my friend and her boyfriend of the time (who was friends with my partner)

My friend told me that he had seen me out with her and had asked for my number, her boyfriend told him pretty much the same about me. In neither case was it true! But we started texted each other and eventually met at the bar he was working at. I was intimidated by how hot he was, he'd had a horrid break up and his self esteem was too low for him to even consider that I was actually interested in him. It took a few months and some very persistent flirting before anything happened.
I think at the time we both thought it was just going to be some casual fun. I was in an open relationship at the time and not looking for a second relationship, he'd had this break up, and we seemed way too different for it to work out. But 2 years later we're still together (and monogamous now!)

Before all this I was on OkCupid, loved it for all the random encounters, dates and adventures I found! I also got a pretty good relationship out of it and have recommended that route to many, many friends.
